Week One Spring 2018

Dear Members,

Welcome to a new season of the LA Pool League.

We begin this Spring 2018 Season with 18 teams, 8 in the East Division and 10 in the West Division. We have a several new Captains who stepped up to lead teams - including Allen Fambro who is leading team Russfull; and Jeffrey Nii who is leading the Shaft Queens; and Drew Amann who is leading Cue Branch. Thanks to our new captains. Our league grows and expands through leadership and that starts at the captain level - so this is much appreciated.

Welcome New and Returning Players - The LAPL has several new players and many returning players. The Expendables, led by Ran Refael has several new players as does the Cue Branch team led by Drew Amann; Y-Unit, led by Justin Yau has a couple new players as does Russfull, led by Allen Fambro. The Little Joy teams and the Jerry's teams have brought on new LAPL players. We want to thank all the captains and sponsors for recruiting these new players. We hope our new players enjoy themselves this season.

Captains - Remember to add your players to our email list. You can email their email address and name to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will make this happen. The email list is the best way for our league to get information out to our players. Also ask your players to like us on Facebook.

Next Mini-Tournament: "Pick a Partner" will be held at Little Joy on February 11 with sign up at 12 noon and play at 1 p.m. This will be a scotch doubles tournament where you bring a partner of your choosing to compete in the tournament. Trophies to first through fourth place.

Greased Lightning - 19 players turned out last Sunday and in the end, 1st Place went to Al Ballesteros, 2nd Place went to Gibbi Tkatch, 3rd Place to Monty Kimball and 4th to Ran Refael.

BOG - If you are interested in running for the Board, please let us know by the end of week seven.

West Coast Challenge 77 - LA will host the West Coast Challenge July 6-8, 2018 at the Burbank Marriott Hotel. We are hoping to send a very strong contingent to the challenge, so please encourage your players to compete in the Open, Women's Hi-Lo and of course teams. If you are interested in helping with this event, please let a board member know. There will be several open tournaments for our members to participate at WCC 77. We will put out information in the next few weeks about these upcoming events.

Until next time, please have fun and shoot well.
